Course "Introduction to Cryobiology"

A academical course “ introduction to the Cryobiology” is organised at University of Antwerp. In a syllabus the following topics are treated scientifically: the principles of cryobiology, the transition water-ice and its consequences for living cells, mechanisms of cryo-damage, cryoprotectants, cryopreservation of cells and tissues and applications in cryobiology.

The course is given by Dr. Guy Wouters, R&D Manager of the Cryo-Save Group. He is biotechnologist and has a Master in ‘Cellular Therapy’ , University Mulhouse, France.


Aan de Universiteit Antwerpen wordt de cursus “Inleiding tot de Cryobiology” georganiseerd. In deze cursus wordt op wetenschappelijke wijze de volgende onderwerpen behandeld: de principes van de cryobilologie, de transitie water-ijs en haar gevolgen voor levende cellen, mechanisme van cryoschade, cryoprotectanten, , cryopreservatie van cellen en weefsels en toepassingen in de cryobiologie.

De cursus wordt gedoceerd door Dr.Ir. Guy Wouters (guy.wouters@cryo-save.com), R&D Manager van de Cryo-Save Group. Hij is biotechnoloog en heeft een master in Cellulaire Therapie, Universiteit Mulhouse, Frankrijk.
